Segray

Our Transition class will be designed to introduce both children and parents to what to expect during a typical preschool day. We condense our everyday schedule into half hour blocks of time which will begin at 2 and end at 4. This will give the child time to grow comfortable with and eventually master their environment. Here at Segray, we believe that preschool should be both comfortable and enjoyable for all involved. We know a full day of preschool can be a bit intimidating, which is why we aim to introduce our wonderful world one piece at a time.

Beginning at 2 PM, our experienced and nurturing staff will welcome the child into a circle time. Here they will be introduced to songs, games, and small group activities in a warm and calm setting. Following this time, the group will move on to a group activity- cooking, art, dramatic play, etc. After this, we will have a picnic snack. Following snack, we’ll have a “wind down” activity- such as yoga, guided meditation, or a quiet story or puppet time. From there, we move to our “Goodbye” circle time. By beginning and ending the Transition Class with a circle time, the child is able to understand the concept of our schedule and will grow comfortable with their time here at school. Our teachers will be there every step of the way ensuring each transition between activities is both enjoyable and comfortable for the child.
